PAPER AND ELECTRONIC BOOKS

Production Process

The production process consists of several stages. The stages that a specific book might require and how long the whole process might take depend on various factors, including the exact services the manuscript needs and its size.

The full production process consists of the following stages:

  • Content editing: Your editor reviews the content and provides you with feedback about any improvement that the manuscript needs. This stage must be concluded and the content of the book finalised before it is moved to the next stage to be copy edited.
  • Copy editing: The first language edit.
  • Artwork: Creating and editing the graphical elements of the content.
  • Typesetting: Laying out the content, which includes formatting the text and the pages.
  • Indexing: Indexing the content.
  • Proofreading: The second and final language edit.
  • Cover design: Designing the front, back, and spine of the cover.
  • Author proofs: We send you the pre-final proofs of the book interior and cover for a final check before we finalise the book for publication.
  • Paperback edition publishing: Sending the final files of the book interior and cover to the printers and making the book available through paperback channels.
  • Electronic edition publishing: Creating the electronic format files of the book interior and cover and making the book available through electronic channels.
